Herb Garden 2010

Herb Garden Volunteer Crew

Working and Learning

The Herb Garden volunteer crew works with the arboretum's assistant curator to maintain the garden. Some common tasks include hand weeding, planting, spreading mulch, watering plants, and labeling specimens. The Herb Garden is the oldest garden at the Arboretum and features over 100 plants grown for specific purposes such as seasonings, medicines, dyes, and household use. No experience is necessary. Join us and learn how to grow herbs, meet new people, and enjoy the outdoors!

Where and When

The crew meets every Tuesday morning during the growing season from 9 AM – 12 PM, weather permitting. Regular meetings generally run from early April - November, with occasional meetings in the off-season as needed. All regular communication for this group is by email. The assistant curator will send an email to all registered volunteers the Monday before each volunteer shift, informing of any changes to the regular schedule and providing a brief description of anticipated volunteer activities that week. The crew meets in the Herb Garden across from the main parking lot.
