Nestled in the Northern Shenandoah Valley of Virginia, Blandy is minutes away from hiking, canoeing, and more!  Blandy is within 10 miles of the Shenandoah River, the largest river in the Shenandoah Valley, and the Appalachian Trail, the 2,000-mile walking trail that runs from Georgia to Maine.  Students have the opportunity to go on an all-day canoe trip and a group hike during first few weeks of the program.

The summer also includes a visit to the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History in Washington, D.C., as well as a full-day birding trip to the coast of the Atlantic Ocean, led by Blandy Director Dr. David Carr.

Students enjoy exploring some eccentric local attractions and nearby historic sites.
